Faculty Facts

The Faculty of Philosophy and Education comprises three scientific subunits – the Department of Philosophy, the Department of Education and the Institute Vienna Circle – as well as two subunits dedicated to organising the Faculty's academic activities – the Dean's Office and the StudiesServiceCentre.

The Faculty employs about 350 scientists working in teaching and research as well as 40 non-academic university staff members working to organise the academic activities.

The Faculty manages to successfully combine internationally visible and acknowledged research with a great responisbility, quantitatively and qualitatively, in teaching for an overall of 8000 students. It offers four bachelor's programmes, eight master's programmes, doctoral programmes in two fields of research as well as, in cooperation with the Faculty of Psychology, a teacher's programme for the teaching subject Psychology-Philosophy.

More than 30 third-party-funded-projects contribute to the Faculty's research output in key research areas and thematic areas – basic research as well as applied science – as defined in the Development Plan 2028.
